05 Feb 09

On Wednesday 4th February Middle East Golfers held their annual awards ceremony at The Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai.

Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club won the award for Best new Golf Development in the Middle East, voted for by golfers from across the Gulf Region. Other golf courses nominated for this prize were The Palm Resort in Al Ain, The New Montgomerie Course in Bahrain and The Els Club in Dubai.

Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club opened their 9 hole golf course on the 1st March 2008. It boasts a 9 hole championship layout designed by world renowned golf course designer Peter Harradine. The golf course is fully floodlit and is the only fully grassed golf course in the Emirate of Sharjah. These attributes contributed significantly to their award, as did its outstanding value, excellent condition all year round and outstanding practice facilities (which includes a 300 yard fully grassed driving range, large short game area with a practice bunker and a 9 hole hole putting green).

Director of Golf Martin Duff collected the award and thanked Middle East Golfer and the voters for such a prestigious acknowledgement.
