The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has won another award: the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and its two golf courses, the 18-hole PGA Championship Course and the 9-hole Executive Course, have been named “Swiss Golf Resort of the Year 2009” and “Swiss Golf Course of the Year 2009” by Swiss Golf at the World of Golf exhibition in Zurich.

Swiss Golf awards the titles of “Swiss Golf Resort of the Year” and “Swiss Golf Course of the Year” to destinations, hotels, resorts or golf clubs offering the highest levels of innovation, quality, service and infrastructure. “The ‘new' Grand Resort Bad Ragaz with its two golf courses undoubtedly fulfils these criteria,” says Karen Vesti, Head of Swiss Golf. The award was accepted by Ralph Polligkeit, Director of Golf & Sports, and Thomas Bechtold, Director of Sales, at the World of Golf exhibition in Zurich. “We are delighted to receive this recognition and are extremely proud to accept the award. We would like to thank all of our staff at the resort and the golf courses, who work so hard to ensure the well-being of our guests and give the resort its soul – a vital ingredient in our success,” said Polligkeit.

Grand Resort Bad Ragaz

The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is a perfect blend of the modern and the traditional – no other resort or hotel in Switzerland has become so well established over the decades. As part of an investment programme of around CHF 160 million, the entire Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has been completely renovated in just 14 months. In addition to the two traditional hotels, the Grand Hotel Quellenhof & Spa Suites and the Grand Hotel Hof Ragaz, the new Spa Tower and the expanded well-being services also attract the younger generation to Bad Ragaz.

Golf courses

Golf has also enjoyed a long tradition in Bad Ragaz. The 18-hole PGA Championship Course, opened in 1905, is one of the oldest golf courses in Switzerland. The location’s long-standing experience and golfing expertise is not only evident in its perfectly maintained courses, but is also reflected in the lively demand for golfing events. This year, for example, the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open will be held for the 14th time, with top players from throughout the world converging here from 2 to 4 July. The “Heidiland” 9-hole Executive Course was launched in 2005 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Golf Club Bad Ragaz. With its Golf Academy, it is perfect for beginners and for golfers wanting to hone their skills in the short game.
