Billington Battles To Take Harradine Cup Victory
01 Nov 13

The annual Harradine cup took place on the first day in November and as usual the support for this event was excellent. A record number of competitors teed up early in the morning ready to take on the superbly conditioned Championship course under beautiful golfing conditions. Peter Harradine and Harradine Golf who designed and built Al Hamra back in 2007 once again kindly sponsored the event which meant that there were some fantastic prizes on offer along with a delicious BBQ to follow. Peter also kindly handed the trophies and prizes to all the competition winners during the prize presentation on completion of play. Finishing in third place taking the last podium place with a score of 39 points was Albert Quraishi who after an awesome front nine of 23 points only managed 16 points on the back. This meant that he would lose out on a card play-off with second place John Hood who also carded 39 points but had a lot better homeward nine of 20 points. Finishing with just a one point winning margin on 40 points and being crowned 2013 Harradine Cup champion was Richard Billington. After a rocketing start of 23 points on the front nine Richard had a few slips on the back including pointless holes on both the 13th and 18th. As it turned out this didn’t affect his result and he gratefully received the winners trophy along with a Taylormade bag from Peter Harradine. There were also a couple of special events on the day which were picked up also by Richard Billington for his nearest the pin effort on Hole 4 and Suzanne Baron for her close shot on hole 11. Al Hamra Golf Club would like to give a big thanks to Peter Harradine, Harradine Golf, and Orient Irrigation for their support again in making the Harradine Cup a popular and successful event.
