Heritage Golf Course (Mysore / India)

Design a master plan to include an 18 hole tournament course, a 9 hole executive course, practice facilities, location and footprints of the real estate, club house, hotel, convention centre etc. The final plan was approved in December 2005 and the tender documents were prepared for Phase 1 and Phase 2. Construction was delayed due to some additional land made available by the government and the lengthy procedures and formalities required to endorse that decision.

The final approval of the various changes in the land were granted by the authorities in August 2006. An entire re-design was therefore required due to the substantial changes in the land areas and final allocation which forced a complete new location for the club house, main entrance etc. Tender documents were approved in August 2007.

Construction will be phased over a period of 3 years due to the global meltdown.

12 May 2008: The Site Clearing of the Heritage Golf Course, has finally started

The rolling hills, mature landscape and natural features are an ideal setting for the 18 hole/PAR 72, 7400 yard long championship course, the 9 hole executive course and the generous training facilities which include a spacious driving range.

The site is an absolute gem. Meticulous planning has ensured that the magnificent environment has been enhanced and improved by laying the course in and amongst the existing features. The lush vegetation, rich soil, existing canals and various artificial lakes ensured a superb layout.

The course will undulate gently and meander through the mature trees and will provide various strategic challenges and heroic opportunities. Water hazards will be strategic and aesthetic and greens will not be tricky.

The academy will provide 60 floodlit all weather practice bays with multiple target greens, practice bunkers, putting greens and chipping areas.

A visit to check the clearing of the site was completed by Ahmed Imthiaz, C.P.Prakash, Marcus Broeder and Peter Harradine on the 8th July 2008. C.M.Jeevan the chief foreman diligently deployed the local staff to stand along the axis of the holes, tees, dog-legs, fairways and greens. Walking the proposed holes re-confirmed the fantastic and natural beauty of the site and the unobtrusive integration of the layout. Each hole is very different, challenging and yet fair. The existing elevations and vegetation have been fully exploited to create an unforgettable course. The lake at nos. 10, 11, 12, 16 and 17 is in full view of the club house and will definitely provide the signature element in this prestigious project.
